Freeloading Family (v.030 Review)

Overview:

Freeloading Family is an adult 3D game about a man living alone with his step-sister while attending college. What events will unfold from the unusual living situation he finds himself in with a step-sister he barely knows? How will college life treat him? These questions will not go unanswered.​

Review: 

Ah yes. Freeloading Family. I've been following their updates for quite some time now (and by far the best incest visual novel theme I've played ) with quite full of conflicts, as expected. When I first dive in (head first) reading this novel, I set my expectations kind of low as there are quite a few developers who completely went off the radar after making or publishing it halfway through (I'm looking at you, Waifu Academy). After I read a few of the versions, I set my bar a little bit higher since I sense that it's going to include a slice of life, since I have some experience with them (Clannad series, yes you should go watch that). I might remind you, this is not a quickie little game where you just want to bust a nut like those flash games or those we see in Newgrounds. 

The writing of this novel is fantastic. The setting (MC who's in the university with his step-sister) makes those who are 18 and above (ideally somewhere around 20) feel somewhat relatable as they too might have to go through MC's footsteps (had to work to pay "rent"). The main plot centers around our character (MC) who have been living with his step-sister for quite some time and goes to the university with her while his dad traveling overseas dating his step-mom.  Every subplot is written well with some pop culture references hidden within the conversation or the scene itself. The writer definitely knows what's she's writing about since it's well detailed in scenes and I felt like some of the dialogue was realistically possible with the scene (or the surrounding, if that's the correct word).

- 10/10 would bang again

Ending:

Blast from the past. Arcades. The beach. That one time MC confessed. Damn. What a good ending.

Rating:  9/10

   Leah

Jesus, she's cold. Rejecting outright after MC chased her for years (been there, done that) because she's fully not ready for MC. (Spoiler: It did get well)

Rating: 5/10

   Melody

Hella one of the emotional ones.  Her abortion news killed a part of me inside. Can't imagine if I'm in her footstep. Made me cry like a wimp.

Rating: 8/10

   Karina

She grows up so fast. Finally out of her cocoon. Nice that by the way.

Rating: 6/10

Overall:

Perfect novel if you're into incest and slice of life. A perfect balance (as all things should be). Even though it lacks animations, it's still fun to read (Imagination Level Points Increased by 20% After Playing This).
